Our Community Initiatives, Partnerships and Programs
Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. is an international organization comprised of more than 225,000 college-educated men committed to the ideals of Brotherhood, Scholarship and Service. Founded in 1914, the Fraternity has maintained a longstanding commitment to improving communities through service, advocacy, education, economic empowerment and the development of future leaders.
Through its four primary national program areas—Bigger and Better Business, Education, Social Action and Sigma Beta Club—Phi Beta Sigma provides programs and initiatives designed to address the needs of the communities it serves. These programs support the Fraternity's vision of serving communities, mentoring young males and providing educational opportunities; creating alignment among organizational and community initiatives; and promoting healthy lifestyles and greater awareness of health issues that disproportionately affect men of color.
Through these program areas, members of the Omicron Alpha Sigma Chapter determine how best to address the needs of the communities we serve. Our youth mentoring efforts, for example, support the development of young males as they prepare for higher education, the workforce and responsible adulthood. Nationally, the Sigma Beta Club mentoring initiative serves males ages 8–18, with an emphasis on leadership, personal development, education and preparation for the future.
Phi Beta Sigma's commitment to service is also demonstrated through its partnerships and community initiatives addressing educational opportunity, economic empowerment, health disparities, social justice and community development. Current and longstanding partnerships have included organizations such as the American Cancer Society, March of Dimes, Boy Scouts of America and Thurgood Marshall College Fund, among others.
Omicron Alpha Sigma Chapter continues this legacy by translating the Fraternity's national commitment to “Culture For Service and Service For Humanity” into meaningful programs, partnerships and initiatives that positively impact the communities we serve.
